Lloyds Bank, NatWest, Nationwide, and Virgin Money were the major digital banking platforms facing reported outages this morning.

Several UK banking giants, including Lloyds Bank, Virgin Money, NatWest, and Nationwide, were suffering technical issue on their online banking apps.

Earlier on Monday morning (2nd September), users reported problems with their digital banking apps on downdector.com.

Lloyds confirmed that they were aware of the issues on their X account, saying that they are “working to have everything back to normal soon.”

Similarly, Virgin Money also confirmed that they were aware customers were having issues with their mobile and internet banking service. Customers were apparently not able to view their transactions.

According to one X user responding to Lloyd’s post, the issue had been ongoing for two hours.

Complaints concerning Lloyds Bank began at around 7:30am, reaching a peak at 9:59 am with 642 reports. The last update prior to publishing, at 11:14, showed 510 reports of an outage or issue.

Earlier this year, many retail organisations including Sainsbury’s, Tesco’s, Greggs and McDonald’s faced outages on their payment and IT systems.

It remains unclear what is causing the issues, or the specifics of the issue.

Users are reportedly having issues seeing some transactions on their digital banking platforms, but reply to the Lloyd’s X account provides a “workaround” saying that users can view missing transactions by clicking to see the current month’s transactions.
