Colin Hume, who leads the practice, said: “Securing this prestigious accolade has been a long term goal for the practice.

Topolytics
Topolytics, a leading specialist in waste data analytics has been invited to join the Circular Economy 100 (CE100), an innovation programme established by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to enable organisations to develop new opportunities and realise their circular economy ambitions faster.
Edinburgh-based Topolytics’ award-winning technology platform maps and tracks industrial and commercial waste flows from source to processing.
Topolytics’ can handle and analyse inputs from spreadsheets and sensors, offering valuable insights that allow waste managers in industry to make better cost, environmental and investment decisions.

“Seeing where waste is and where it goes, is the first step to making better decisions about how it is managed and reduced.
Take the decision by China to ban the import of low grade plastics and paper, for example. What now happens to this waste and where should it be processed?”
Scottish Government
The Scottish Government’s Collaborative Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Procurement team has been shortlisted for the Innovation Award in the 2018 World Procurement Awards for its work on launching the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for Digital Services.
It is the second year in a row the team has been nominated for the awards.
On a blog post, the DPS team said: “It feels like a long time since Derek Mackay, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Constitution, launched the DPS at the National Procurement Conference back in October 2018.
“Since then over 260 suppliers have joined the DPS and this number is growing every week. Early on this year, it was great to see the first wave of call-off contracts being awarded. It was also fantastic to see those contracts being awarded to SMEs.
“Closing the digital skills gap and supporting cyber resilience are some of our main digital aspirations. When creating the DPS, we originally set out to create a system that was SME friendly at the same time as being digitally agile.
“It’s exciting to be nominated for the award but it’s just as good to see our hard work come to fruition. Suppliers can continue to join the DPS at any time and build on the wealth of experience already available to public sector organisations looking for digital services solutions. This is only the beginning for the opportunities being made available by DPS for Digital Services.”
SHE Software
International fresh produce company, G’s, lifted the coveted ‘agriculture, food and beverages’ award at the recent Verdantix HSE Innovation awards in London following the successful implementation of SHE Software’s cutting edge health and safety software.
In 2014, G’s introduced the Assure platform from SHE Software to tackle lack of consistency in reporting incidents, gaps in visibility and a time-consuming paper based reporting system.
Since using the software, G’s has seen its health and safety culture change dramatically. Incident reporting has improved, substantially increasing its near miss reporting, improving its incident management and improving real time communication. As a part of G’s cultural development, this new software has helped record over 7,000 behavioural conversations.
Matthew Elson, CEO of SHE Software, said: “We are delighted to see G’s lift this award. It’s a true testament to how important G’s regards the health and safety of its large global workforce.
“It has been fantastic to see the impact that Assure has had on G’s as a business. Our software has helped them to foster a positive and inclusive health and safety culture that offers consistency when managing, monitoring, tracking and reporting on health and safety across the whole organisation.”
John Boyle, Head of Health, Safety & Risk at G’s said: “Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, getting our people home safe every night is our top priority and we are proud to receive industry recognition for the work we have done.
“By giving all employees access to SHE Software’s Assure we have effectively improved the way we communicate, manage and share information. The software is helping in our objective to give every person in the company a health and safety voice.
“We have improved the visibility of safety performance at a companywide level and Assure has given our management teams the opportunity to analyse trends and identify risks, while significantly reducing the administrative burden that comes with traditional health and safety reporting.”

Gary Davis, chief executive of Ecometrica, said: “The recognition by both Inc. 5000 Europe and GP Bullhound’s Northern Tech Awards is further validation for Ecometrica and our talented team.
“What is most pleasing for me is that our growth is not at the cost of the planet or its resources. In fact the more we grow the more we are helping business, governments and society to understand, monitor and protect our planet’s resources for the benefit of existing and future generations.
“Huge advances in raw cloud-based computing power, machine learning and artificial intelligence, coupled with steep cost reductions for deploying sensors on the ground, on UAVs or in orbit, mean that we are now able to harness the power of earth observation data at ever greater spatial and temporal resolutions.
“One example of the kind of solutions we provide, based on our unique geospatial technology stack, is our Forests 2020 project, as part of the UK Space Agency’s International Partnership Programme, where we are helping a number of governments to manage and protect over 300 million hectares of tropical forests much more effectively.”
