Scottish Enterprise (SE) has launched a new survey aimed at understanding the prospects of digital and eCommerce in Scotland, revealing significant opportunities for companies to expand their reach in international markets.
The findings are expected to uncover key areas for growth and inform tailored support to help Scottish businesses succeed in a competitive environment in which eCommerce is forecasted to grow at 9% annually by 2027 – more than double the rate of physical retail.
According to SE, global eCommerce is projected to account for 41% of total retail sales by 2027, a substantial increase from 18% in 2017.
For Scottish companies, this translates into a potential £9.3 billion in additional sales, highlighting the imperative of enhancing the country’s international digital trade capabilities, in order to be in the conversation for this growing demand.
The survey will provide insights into the current digital capabilities and challenges faced by Scottish businesses in both the B2B and B2C sectors. The aim is to align with the government’s strategy for a digitally advanced economy and equip Scottish businesses to lead in digital innovation, disrupt traditional markets, and capitalise on international eCommerce growth.
Why Participate?
The data gathered will offer a deeper understanding of Scottish eCommerce, including areas where companies may be missing growth opportunities.
With much of the existing market data specific to the wider UK, this survey seeks to fill the knowledge gap for Scotland and pinpoint the specific needs and challenges in adopting digital sales channels and innovative technologies like AI.
All participants will receive a copy of the final report, which will provide actionable insights to help inform their digital strategies.
