The Scottish AI Alliance has announced the re-launch of its free online course, Living with AI, designed to get the people of Scotland engaged, interested and informed about what AI is and its impact on our daily lives.

As AI continues to shape industries and society, it is essential that people have the knowledge and confidence to understand this technology and its implications.

“The re-launch of Living with AI marks a crucial juncture in Scotland’s ambition to be a world leader in trustworthy, ethical and inclusive AI” said Dawn McAra-Hunter, programme manager at the Scottish AI Alliance.

“AI literacy will play a crucial role in ensuring people understand how this group of technologies may impact their lives – from the algorithms in our media to its uses in medicine.

“By focusing on the ethics of artificial intelligence, Living with AI will give its users a comprehensive overview of AI in our society and the ethical considerations they should keep in mind when interacting with AI.”

To support the promotion and adoption of Living with AI, the Scottish AI alliance is collaborating with Skills Development Scotland (SDS).

“All of us are interacting with AI on a day-to-day basis even when we don’t realise it, whether that’s using apps on our phones, buying things online, or scrolling through social media,” Claire Gillespie, digital economy skills manager, said.

Designed to be accessible to all, Living with AI requires no prior knowledge or experience with AI, making it ideal for learners from all backgrounds.

The course combines expert insights with interactive learning, with topics covering what AI is, if AI can be trustworthy, ethical and inclusive, AI and society, AI and work, as well as the future of AI.
