“Over the past year, we’ve witnessed AI move from the periphery to the centre of how we create, work, and solve problems,” said Ben Schein, SVP of product at Domo.

Global spend on AI every minute skyrocketed by over 300% last year, new research on AI growth from Domo found.

The firm’s Data Never Sleeps: AI Edition report provides a deep dive into the immense amount of AI data generated on the internet every minute, as well as its impact on our everyday lives.

“Over the past year, we’ve witnessed AI move from the periphery to the centre of how we create, work, and solve problems,” said Ben Schein, SVP of product at Domo.

“What’s fascinating isn’t just the technology itself, but how quickly people have woven AI into the fabric of their daily lives. This report showcases that transformation in real-time, showing us the human behaviours behind the AI revolution.”

Global spend on AI every minute grew from $293k last year to over $1.21M, an increase of 312%. Additionally, AI startups raised $184,046 in VC funding, and 1.9M computer chips are sold every sixty seconds.

The last year also saw some major AI breakthroughs. From the rise of LLM DeepSeek, which now processes over 347k queries every minute and uses a fraction of the compute power used by its competitors, to Agentic AI, with nearly agents created as Customer GPTs every 60 seconds.

However, there is a double-edged sword to advancing AI. For every productivity increase, organisations and individuals can use AI for irritating or illegal means. For instance, American received 109,444 robocalls each minute.

As AI grows more common in the workplace, every minute employees save 1.23 million hours, adding up to over 140 years of productivity gained. And, as the workforce continues to desire AI skills more, six people enroll in GenAI courses every sixty seconds.

“The data highlights the hunger people have for tools that amplify their capabilities,” Schein said. “Whether it’s a student getting help with homework or an employee using AI agents to streamline their workflow, people are embracing AI not as a replacement for human intelligence, but as a partner in getting things done.”
