The Scottish Financial Technology Awards honoured the best, brightest, and most innovative when it comes to the challenges of the modern fintech ecosystem.

The winners of the 2025 Financial Technology Awards have been announced, with Loveelectric, the electric car affordability firm, securing the prestigious “Fintech of the Year” award on the evening.

Hosted live at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, this year’s awards recognised outstanding companies and individuals working in Scotland’s financial services and fintech ecosystem.

The packed ceremony helped kick off the Scotland Fintech Festival with a round of celebrations, and gave the ecosystem’s leaders and innovators the chance to recognise their contributions following another eventful year both in and for the sector.

“It was fantastic to bring Scotland’s vibrant financial services and fintech communities together under one roof,” said Ray Bugg, the founder of DIGIT.

“Since its launch, the Scotland Fintech Festival has showcased the innovation and pioneering spirit of these industries far and wide, highlighting their importance to Scotland’s economy and her people. I expect 2025 will be no different.

“We’d like to offer our congratulations to both the winners and finalists on the evening.”

“There’s a phenomenally high standard, and the proposals we reviewed were phenomenal, and it does make me proud to be Scottish,” Anne Devine, KPMG partner said, reflecting on her time as a judge of the prestigious awards.

Scottish Financial Technology Awards: The Winners

This year, Loveelectric won first prize in the “Fintech of the Year” category. The Edinburgh-based company faced fierce competition, but the B-corp came out on top for its innovative solution for both companies and employees in the EV revolution.

Speaking to DIGIT after the win, sales director Ben Nixon said that the award was “truly a testament to everything we do; we really try to put the customer first.”

“For Scottish fintech,” he continued, “this really shows that we are at the forefront of the ecosystem – Scotland has a lot to offer, we are competitive, and the scene is very much alive.”

Finspector won the coveted “Start Up of the Year” prize. Speaking for his team, Phillip Clements, CEO at Finspector, said: “It’s quite a shock to be honest. As a startup you get quite used to being battered, so it’s amazing to be celebrated for the progress we’ve made. We could not have done this without our design team, our UX, and CX. The Scottish community has been so supportive.”

In a statement that encapsulates the current mood regarding AI and its potential for transformative change, Joseph Twigg, CEO of Aveni – who won the award for best use of AI and data in fintech – said: “AI is the future of Fintech.”
