Enterprise AI tech provider Atos has announced it will launch three new sovereign and sovereign AI centres across the country, designed to give UK firms greater control over their data, cloud and AI operations, and ensure the self-reliance of critical sectors.

With governments and industries increasingly focused on where data is stored and how AI is governed, Atos said the hubs will provide secure, UK-based technology infrastructure for public sector, defence, and critical national infrastructure businesses.

According to Atos, its new hubs located in Birmingham, Nottingham, and Andover will offer ‘AI-proofed’ career paths for UK graduates and apprentices, with around fifty early-career roles set to launch at the centres next year.

One centre, dubbed the ‘Sovereign Orchestration Hub’, will support secure, locally governed digital services across the UK, expanding on Atos’ existing sovereign tech portfolio.

The facility will deliver on-site cloud solutions, AI-powered workplace tools, and long-term device support, alongside integrated network and security operations. 

With the offering, Atos aims to give organisations a unified view of their IT and operational systems, with the aim of helping them spot issues early, and boost efficiency, security, and resilience.

Meanwhile, Atos’ new Digital Agentic Centre will host and manage sovereign AI capabilities, with the firm planning to provide its clients with more control over their data and digital infrastructure to meet their AI requirements.

The centre aims to automate more than half of engineering, testing, and DevOps tasks using AI-driven tools and agent-based systems, aiming to help organisations cut costs, speed up delivery and free up capital for their own digital transformation.

Lastly, the Sovereign Digital Enablement Centre (DEC) will be built to fast-track innovation across defence and critical national infrastructure. Designed as a secure, collaborative space where ‘mission-critical solutions’ can be built, tested, and refined quickly, the DEC is backed by industry partners including Microsoft and AWS.

Atos said the DEC’s sandbox approach will speed up the delivery of new technologies while also strengthening the UK’s sovereign digital capabilities.

The company said that together, these new Hubs will strengthen the UK’s digital independence, and set a new benchmark for secure, scalable tech built around sovereignty and long-term resilience.
