Cauldron, a social prediction platform designed to reimagine how people consume and interact with the news, is partnering with the University of Edinburgh’s CompSoc, Hoppers, and School of Informatics to host an evening exploring the intersection of media literacy and AI.

The event, which is free and open to the public with RSVP, combines a live prediction session with a panel discussion featuring some of Edinburgh’s leading researchers in AI ethics, information integrity, global eHealth, and public understanding.

The evening begins with a live prediction session from 6pm-6.30pm, where attendees will make evidence-based forecasts on upcoming headlines using Cauldron’s platform.

This will be followed by a panel discussion from 6.30pm-7.30pm titled Why Critical Thinking and Media Literacy Matter in the Age of AI, featuring Professor Jane Hillston, Dr Claudia Pagliari, Dr Björn Ross, Dr Robin Hill, and Professor Walid Magdy. The event will conclude with networking (and free pizza!) from 7.30pm-8pm.

Cauldron describes itself as a civic-minded social forecasting platform that encourages users to engage with current events by making and tracking probabilistic predictions.
