Accenture is set to acquire UK‑based AI firm Faculty, aiming to fold its decision‑intelligence products into clients’ operations and streamline core business processes.

The deal, made for an undisclosed sum, will see Faculty’s team of over 400 AI professionals join Accenture’s teams, expanding the consultancy firm’s AI capacity and incorporating Faculty’s simulation and optimisation technologies to deliver measurable results.

Faculty’s services, which include AI strategy, safety and system design, will support the scaled adoption of AI by client organisations, addressing risks such as bias, privacy and unexplainable outcomes by ensuring that responsible development is embedded within every stage of the AI lifecycle.

Accenture is banking on Faculty’s solid track record, which includes work with the AI labs of leading developers like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as public and private sector clients across the UK and abroad. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Faculty built the NHS’s Early Warning System, used daily by the NHS Gold Command to predict patient demand across the country and allocate critical care resources.

Sealing the deal, the UK firm’s CEO, Marc Warner, will become chief technology officer of Accenture, bringing his experience as a member of the UK’s independent AI Council to the company’s Global Management Committee.

As well as integrating Faculty’s enterprise decision intelligence product, Faculty Frontier, the deal will also see Accenture leverage Faculty’s Fellowship Program, a structured early career training and placement scheme that helps STEM PhD and master’s graduates and researchers transition from academia to industry. 

Building on the success of this program in the UK, Accenture plans to extend the program globally to its own staff and offer it as a new training platform to clients.
