The OpenAI tie-up follows a similar partnership between Snowflake and Anthropic, signed last month, evidence that enterprise AI partnerships are beginning to converge.

Enterprise cloud firm Snowflake has struck a $200 million (£146.1m) multi-year deal with OpenAI, making the ChatGPT creator’s models native across its platform for over 12,000 global clients, including the likes of Canva and WHOOP.

Under the partnership, OpenAI becomes the primary model provider within Snowflake’s platform, with flagship models like GPT-5.2 made available to the cloud provider’s employees through its “enterprise intelligence agent”.

At the heart of the partnership, however, is a shared ambition to advance secure, enterprise AI at scale, with the two companies saying they will work together to deliver tailored, next-genAI capabilities to enterprise customers through “co-innovation and joint go-to-market efforts”.

That includes joint product development, with the two firms set to work on building state-of-the-art AI agents powered by Snowflake’s Cortex AI, agents that will run directly on enterprise data and can take action across tools and apps, which Snowflake said will give its customers “high-impact intelligence at scale”.

“Customers can now harness all their enterprise knowledge in Snowflake together with the world-class intelligence of OpenAI models, enabling them to build AI agents that are powerful, responsible, and trustworthy,” said Sridhar Ramaswamy, Snowflake CEO.

“Together, we’re setting a new standard for AI innovation, helping businesses transform with confidence, while maintaining strong security and compliance standards.”

For enterprises with huge data stores but limited agent capabilities, the deal could prove valuable, but it’s yet another addition to the maze of partnerships AI and data firms have been stitching together in recent months.

Last month, Snowflake inked a separate $200 million tie‑up with OpenAI rival Anthropic, aiming to fuse Claude models with its Cortex AI platform so customers can build AI agents, with Claude also serving as a foundational model within Snowflake’s enterprise intelligence suite.

Meanwhile, Anthropic recently unveiled a new partnership with ServiceNow, making Claude the cloud SaaS firm’s default model for its own AI platform and agent builder, as well as rolling out Claude and Claude Code to its global workforce of more than 29,000 employees.

Coming full circle, last month also saw ServiceNow ink a multi-year deal with OpenAI, giving its customers direct access to the AI firm’s frontier models, with the two firms beginning collaboration on a real-time speech-to-speech AI agent.

This chain of enterprise AI partnerships isn’t, on its own, proof that the sector is operating in a closed loop, but with the likes of Snowflake entering into $400 million worth of identical deals within just two months, it’s hard to ignore how rapidly the enterprise AI landscape is consolidating.
