OpenCMC™ has been established to help commercialise technologies developed within the CMAC research centre at the University of Strathclyde.
OpenCMC will build on CMAC’s existing work in advanced medicine manufacturing, collaborating with industry and academic partners across the UK and internationally.
The company will work with these partners to test and scale emerging technologies for industrial deployment.
This includes digital and automated manufacturing tools, designed to speed up development, improve process understanding and support the efficient and sustainable production of medicines.
Massimo Bresciani, CMAC Industry Director and co-founder of the new company, said: “OpenCMC™ introduces an innovative commercial model designed to unlock the transition of CMAC’s technology portfolio into scalable industrial platforms.
“As a global centre of excellence, CMAC has developed a unique portfolio of CMC Data Factories™ and digital capabilities that position it at the forefront of advanced medicines manufacturing.
“The new company provides a dedicated mechanism to translate these validated assets into investable industrial opportunities, accelerating the digital transformation of chemistry manufacturing and control, enabling coordinated industry adoption and reinforcing CMAC’s long-term sustainability and international leadership.”
