“Planit UK brings real strength to our business in specialist expertise, sector reach and complementary capability, creating a stronger platform for the future,” said Dave Kelly, 2i CEO.

Edinburgh‑based QA specialist 2i has acquired Reading’s Planit UK, a quality engineering and application testing firm, in a deal that creates one of the largest pure‑play quality assurance providers in the country.

2i said that the acquisition, made for an undisclosed sum, will grow the business to around 600 people, with revenues forecast to double to £50 million as it expands capability and market reach across the UK.

The deal will deepen the Scottish firm’s expertise across quality assurance, strategic test consultancy, enterprise resource planning, and AI assurance, building on key hires made over the past year, including the appointment of Experior founder Simon Evans to spearhead a new ERP division last September.

“Joining 2i brings together complementary strengths, shared expertise and a common commitment to quality, creating a stronger proposition for our clients and a bigger platform for future growth,” said Neil Kennedy, general manager at Planit UK.

“We believe the combined business is exceptionally well placed to build on what both organisations do well and deliver quality outcomes and even greater value in the market.”

Building on a cash injection from the London private equity firm Rockpool in 2024, this latest transaction marks the next step in 2i’s acquisition‑led growth plan, following its buyout of testing consultancy nFocus.

As part of that strategy, the company has cut the ribbon on offices in India, including a hub in Bangalore and an India Delivery Centre in Hyderabad, and last year reported a 41% increase in headcount for its UK-based teams.

By acquiring Planit UK, the company is looking to accelerate this trajectory, pushing into new capabilities and geographies.

“This is a significant step for 2i and a major milestone in our growth journey,” said Dave Kelly, 2i CEO.

“We have been clear about our ambition to grow, broaden what we offer clients and continue building a market-leading quality assurance business in the UK. Planit UK brings real strength to our business in specialist expertise, sector reach and complementary capability, creating a stronger platform for the future.”
