Donald Daters App Leaks User Data Hours After Launch

Donald Daters, a dating app that promised to “make dating great again,” launched this week and promptly leaked its users’ data.

The app went live on Monday morning, but French security researcher Baptiste Robert found that the app was exposing user information in an open database, including biographical details such as user names and profile photos. It apparently also exposed what could have been tokens for session IDs that could allow attackers to log into users’ accounts and private messages.

Amazon UK Expansion to Boost Scotland’s Tech Industry

Amazon has revealed plans to increase the capacity of its Scotland Development Centre, which will see it take over the third floor at Edinburgh’s Waverley Gate site. The expansion will create space for an additional 250 roles.

At the same time, the company has announced that it will open a new corporate office in Manchester, creating at least 600 new corporate and research and development (R&D) roles. It also said its Cambridge centre would grow to accommodate 180 new roles.

Mutant Super Soldiers Could Become Reality by 2048

The Global Strategic Trends: The Future Starts Today, published by the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) think-tank Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre, has warned that the creation of genetically modified bionic soldiers could become a reality in the next 30 years.

According to the report, these augmented troops should be able to lift huge weights, run at high speeds or long distances, have infra-red vision built into their brains, and even be able to communicate with fellow soldiers by electronically aided telepathy. These augmentations will be made possible by advanced drug and genetic tech that enables the military to reprogram soldiers’ genes, in order to transform them into super human soldiers.

Elon Musk Plans to Launch Teslaquila Tequila Brand

Elon Musk, the CEO of electric car manufacturer Tesla, has revealed that the company has filed an application to trademark ‘Teslaquila’, meaning that what was originally meant as an April Fool’s joke could become a reality.

Musk first mentioned the product on 1st April 2018 in a supposed prank in which he tweeted that Tesla had gone bankrupt and “Elon was found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by Teslaquilla bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks.”

eBay Files Lawsuit Against Amazon

Online marketplace eBay is suing Amazon in the US, claiming the retailer used its internal messaging system to poach its sellers.

The lawsuit alleges that Amazon representatives registered for eBay accounts and sent messages to encourage users to sell their products on Amazon, which eBay said violated its user agreement.

Ebay said it was an “orchestrated, coordinated, worldwide campaign” to “illegally lure eBay sellers to sell on Amazon.”

US Authorities Auction Off $4.3 Million Worth of Confiscated Bitcoin

A federal law enforcement agency of the US Government, the United States Marshals Service (USMS), is auctioning off 660 bitcoins.

The bitcoins, thought to be worth a total of $4.3 million bitcoin next month, were forfeited in federal criminal, civil and administrative cases.

To participate in the auction, would-be bidders must register identification with the agency and deposit $200,000 until 31st October. The auction will occur in two parts with six blocks of 100 bitcoin each and one remaining block with 60 BTC.
