Loral and Eshel Quinn are the mother and daughter team behind tech firm Sustainably, an app that allows people to automatically donate spare change to charity by rounding payments up to the nearest pound when they shop.

The app, which launched for Monzo Bank customers last year, is going to market soon and will be connected to 17 UK banks.

Sustainably, the only Scottish company to make it to the finals, impressed the panel of judges and was awarded one of the eight gongs up for grabs. Loral said of the win: “This investment from WeWork will help us in our mission to create a global impact business, and make it easy for everyone to have a positive impact every day.”

Hollywood star and tech startup investor, Ashton Kutcher, was on the panel of judges, along with the publishing director of British Vogue, Vanessa Kingori MBR; Michelle Kennedy, co-founder of Peanut app; and Jonas Templestein, co-founder of online bank Monzo. In addition to this star line-up, two time Grammy-winning producer and DJ, Diplo, headlined the show.

“It’s amazing to think that, in that short time, we made it to the final and were voted for by amazing judges including Ashton Kutcher,” Loral added.

The WeWork Creator Awards were created to recognise and reward creators from all over the world and provide them with the extra funding they need to take their ideas to the next level. It is designed to support and encourage entrepreneurs, start-ups, non-profits, and performance artists who want to make a positive impact on the world.

Kutcher tweeted about the ceremony: “An epic night celebrating amazing innovators. We are building something truly amazing here.”
