- Citizens Advice (Scotland) launched Scam Awareness Month, and are advising consumers to watch out for ‘phantom goods’ which are purchased online but never delivered.
- DC Thomson & Abertay University launched a new Games Festival to be held in Dundee this September with Game Design Awards and an e-sports tournament.
- Hyperloop-shmyperloop. A ‘Hyper Chariot’ capable of reaching 4,000mph could whisk passengers from Edinburgh to London in 8 minutes by 2040.
World Tech News Roundup
- Russian security software giant Kaspersky agreed to turn over its source code to the US Government in the latest round of private tech companies turning over their code in order to continue doing business.
- Ukraine placed the blame squarely on Russia for the Petya ransomware attack, which saw infections mainly debilitate Ukrainian and Russian systems before spreading across central Europe.
- NATO says it could be forced to respond to the Petya attack, as political motivations are suspected.
