The London Office for Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement (LORCA) has described its third cohort as its “most international yet,” with companies from South Korea, Italy and Spain.

LORCA opened last year with £13.5m in funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport with the goal of addressing industry market need and securing the UK’s position as a world leader in cybersecurity.

The cohorts have been selected from applicants that responded to an open call to pitch their solutions that address the focus areas identified by the association: security by design, basics and beyond.

Upon joining the program, the 15 companies will be granted access to experts from Deloitte and The Centre for Secure Information Technologies at Queen’s University Belfast to support their growth ambitions.

Last year, Scottish cybersecurity firm ZoneFox and B-Secur, a biometric heartbeat solutions firm, were among the first companies to benefit from LORCA.

Minister for Digital Margot James said: “We want the UK to be at the forefront of tackling cyber threats and encourage the best and brightest to come up with new and innovative solutions to combat the ever changing cyber risks.

“Ahead of London Tech Week, it’s great to see that LORCA is now welcoming international companies to the capital, making this a truly global effort to ensure we have a Britain that’s fit for the future.”
