Actress and businesswoman Jessica Alba’s official Twitter account was infiltrated by a hacker who took the opportunity to send out homophobic and racist messages from the account.

Shortly after the attack began yesterday, Alba’s name started trending on Twitter, with many of her nine million followers expressing concern. Many sent tweets urging the star to take action to secure her account.

The tweets remained up for several hours before they were taken down by Twitter. Although Alba’s staff were able to delete the tweets, many had already been screen grabbed and re-shared on the social media platform.

Normally, when a high-profile individual’s account is hacked, Twitter is typically quick to respond and remove the tweets. However, Alba’s hacker started sending out the tweets in the early hours of Sunday and this is likely the reason it took so long for Alba’s team to respond.

Alba’s account shares links to her Instagram page that promotes her billion-dollar businesses, The Honest Company and Honest Beauty, which promotes ethical consumerism.

The hacker used her platform to share messages such as “Nazi Germany Did Nothing Wrong And That’s On God N****” , “ugh police sirens in the distance again. When will n*****s stop committing crimes so I can get some f***ing sleep” and made slurs against handicapped people and urged women to embrace rape saying it was an act of god.

Several of the tweets contained references to rapper YNM Melly calling for his release from jail where he is awaiting trial for a double homicide and could potentially face the death penalty. Alba has yet to make a statement over the incident.
