TheTechForce, an Aberdeen-based cybersecurity specialist, has sold its managed IT services portfolio to IT services firm Solab for an undisclosed fee.

The deal marks the beginning of a new strategic direction for TheTechForce, which was awarded a place on the highly competitive G-Cloud 11 framework, the Government’s cloud and IT services procurement platform.

Its presence in the directory means that the company’s cybersecurity services can be accessed by UK public sector organisations seeking support.

The company said it will now target further UK market growth and believes the sale will enable it to concentrate exclusively on its primary offering.

TheTechForce provides cybersecurity solutions and security awareness training for medium-to-large organisations.

Similarly, the move has allowed Solab to expand its customer base locally. The two businesses will share intelligence on a variety of key industry segments, including oil and gas, and have agreed to collaborate on certain projects that will unlock new markets.

By cementing its niche position, The TechForce, which has also relocated to the Balmoral Hub, Wellington Circle, expects that this increased focus on cybersecurity will strengthen its position in key areas such as energy, finance and the public sector.

The business has secured new clients for its cybersecurity services in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, London and Manchester in recent months, coinciding with the opening of virtual offices in the two capital cities as an initial step in its expansion plans.

The TechForce, which is a member of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC), was recently awarded Approved Cyber Essentials Practitioner (Advanced) status to support clients achieve Cyber Essentials Plus, the Government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common online threats.

The company provides email phishing and security awareness training, next-generation antivirus software, vulnerability management and cyber essentials consulting for medium-to-large businesses.
