The Scottish ‘daily deals’ and events website Itison has seen profits double following an expansion success.

Glasgow-based Itison has seen a surge in growth following a successful expansion into the North of England, with profits doubling in the last financial year. Pre-tax profit has jumped from £787,000 to almost £1.6m while turnover rose 38% to £23.7m The company revealed that is also benefited from the launch of its ‘Groups’ platform, catering to special occasions such as birthdays and large-outings.

Chief executive Oli Norman said: “We’ve had another great year of growth and results alongside a major focus on R&D (research and development) investment; building our analytics platforms and new services for the over 4,000 amazing businesses we work with.

“We’ve also had a lot of fun in the process; building a new world-class headquarters, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities and of course escorting one of our members to lunch with Leonardo DiCaprio.”

Itison’s headquarters in Glasgow’s Merchant City was dubbed the “coolest office in Scotland,” featuring a complimentary bar, a giant hot-air balloon, and a fireman’s pole. They also hosted a competition last year run in collaboration with homeless charity Social Bite, with the winner attending an exclusive lunch with super-star actor DiCaprio.

The site currently has more than 1.2m subscribers, and employs 60 people across Scotland and the North of England.
