The Royal Mail is currently unable to send parcels and letters overseas due to a ‘cyber incident’
It seems the problem was first uncovered on Tuesday, with staff trying to uncover the cause ever since.
In a statement, the company warned of major disruptions to parcels and letters being sent internationally and urged people not to send anything overseas until the problem is resolved.
A tweet put out on Wednesday evening stated that they are “experiencing disruption to our international export services and are temporarily unable to dispatch items to overseas destinations. We strongly advise customers to hold any export items while we work to resolve the issue. Sorry for any disruption this may cause.”

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – who are assisting the company along with the National Crime Agency – also put out a brief statement, saying: “We are aware of an incident affecting Royal Mail Group Ltd and are working with the company, alongside the National Crime Agency, to fully understand the impact.”

The Royal Mail is understood to be in touch with both the police and at least one security service.
A spokesman for the company said: “Some customers may experience delay or disruption to items already shipped for export.
“Our import operations continue to perform a full service with some minor delays.
“Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this disruption and we will update customers as soon as we have more information.”
