Informatics Ventures, Scotland’s technology entrepreneur support programme, has picked 60 early stage tech companies to pitch for investment funding at this year’s EIE.

Engage Invest Exploit (EIE18) will bring together some of Scotland’s top tech investors, startup tech firms seeking investment and industry thought leaders.

Over the course of the event, the 60 startups, which have been drawn from sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), Data Science, Internet of Things, Energy, Climate & Cleantech, Digital Health & Medtech, Fintech and Cybersecurity, will have the opportunity to pitch for funding from seed to Series A.

This Year’s Cohort

Companies chosen to pitch at EIE18 include: Triscribe, Wallet.Services, Good-Loop and Virtual Revolution Technologies.

At a time when there is a dearth of female CEOs in tech, it is promising to note 12% of this year’s 60 tech founders are women.

Emergent Technologies

Dr Steve Ewing, Director of Operations at Informatics Ventures, said “EIE continues to be about making connections that can translate to investment and other business opportunities for our most exciting young technology companies.”

“Scotland has been exporting innovative technologies across the world for centuries and in 2018 we have some amazing talent coming through. While we’re starting to see the real emergence of sectors like AI and Healthtech, it’s also encouraging to see the level of female founders in the EIE18 cohort.”

EIE Supports Scottish Tech

EIE, which is now in its tenth year, is delivered by Informatics Ventures, is Scotland’s premier technology investor showcase event. Since its birth EIE has been a springboard to over £500 million in funding. Companies including FanDuel, Mallzee, Celtic Renewables, Two Big Ears, ZoneFox, pureLiFi and MindMate have all come through the EIE programme.

EIE18 is supported by Scottish Enterprise and the University of Edinburgh and is partnered with The DataLab, Sevenfive Creative Design and VisitScotland.

Tickets for the event are now available online.
