International IT solutions provider SCC opens doors to new Scottish headquarters in Livingston.

The move signifies long-term growth plans for Scotland, where it is already employing 44 people and generating a turnover of £38 million. SCC says it’s now looking to fill dozens of new jobs, and target a growth of 20% in Scotland this year, and 40% in the next five.

To lead the effort in Scotland, as well as Northern Ireland, the SCC appointed Lindsey Hunter who has over two decades of customer-facing experience with SCC.

“This is an exciting time for SCC and in particular for our business in Scotland,” she said, citing a number of sales, service, and engineering jobs that will be opening in the next five years.

“Our new office in Livingston is just the beginning, as we continue to invest in the local economy and in extending our partnerships with Scottish businesses, including considerable support across NHS Scotland.”

SCC offers cloud services, cyber security and digital workplace solutions to customers in the public and private sector in over 65 locations around the world.

The firm’s first Scotland office was in Glasgow in 1986, and since then has grown to be a £3 billion international group with more than 3,000 employees in the UK.

To achieve the projected growth, the firm committed to £300m in investments for mergers and acquisitions across the UK and Europe. This money was fronted in the form of £200m of equity and £100m of debt from the Rigby Group in November of last year.

According to SCC, more than £100,000 has gone into the new Scottish headquarters in Livingston outside of Edinburgh at the Interchange Business Park.

An EY attractiveness survey from last year showed that Scotland outpaced both the UK as a whole and Europe as a destination for foreign investors. Last year saw a 3.3% increase in inward investment projects, compared to 1.4% across Europe and -6.4% across the UK as a whole.

Livingston landed in the top 20 locations outside of London from in the 2021 EY attractiveness survey, and is still emerging as a major destination for enterprise and an economic hub due largely to its “dynamic economy, strategic location and motivated workforce,” according to the West Lothian Council.
