Aberdeen-headquartered ROVOP, the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services company, has been acquired by Edison Chouest Offshore, the US-based group in the marine transportation business, it’s been announced.

As a provider of ROV services, the Scots firm supplies assets and personnel to the energy sector for subsea operations.

The Scots company said that, with the deal, ROVOP will be able to leverage the capabilities and support of other Chouest companies, including C-Innovation, the integrated marine services company.

The deal also means that Chouest will own and utilise six AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles) and over 100 ROVs.

Prior to the Chouest acquisition, the Scots firm was backed by Bluewater, the specialist global private equity firm.

The acquisition by Chouest was made for an undisclosed sum.
