Acumen Cyber, an engineer-powered cybersecurity service provider, today celebrated its first anniversary as an independent MSSP by officially opening its new headquarters at EastWorks, Glasgow, which now hosts what the firm is calling ‘the most cutting-edge Security Operations Centre (SOC) to reside on Scottish soil.’

Joining in the celebrations, Scotland’s MSP for Business, Richard Lochhead, attended the opening, giving a speech on the important role Acumen plays in strengthening cybersecurity across Scotland.

“With around half of all UK businesses and a third of charities reporting some form of cyber breach or attack last year, cyber-crime is a growing and evolving threat to our economy and national security,” said Lochhead.

“It’s essential that organisations have the right support and expertise to deal with these threats. Acumen Cyber is a great example of a Scottish business – not only responding to the serious issue of cybersecurity, but also developing innovation that will contribute to the creation of jobs and deliver benefits across the local economy.

Acumen has enjoyed a strong 12 months, with its SOC achieving CREST accreditation, its headcount surging by 60%, its onboarding of over 18 new clients and its expansion across the UK and Ireland.

Acumen doesn’t just monitor threats – it actively prevents, detects and responds to them in real-time. This has allowed Acumen’s security engineers to analyse over 10 billion events in the last year, stopping over 500 potential threats in their tracks, with an average response time of 28.56 minutes.
