India’s Adani Group has unveiled plans to invest $100 billion over the next decade to develop renewable energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres, as the country seeks to jostle its way to the front of the global AI race.
The group said on Tuesday that the investment, which will run through to 2035, is intended to help establish what it describes as the world’s largest integrated data centre platform.
Adani added that the initiative is expected to create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the next ten years, while also incentivising a further $150 billion in spending across server manufacturing, sovereign cloud platforms and supporting industries.
“The world is entering an Intelligence Revolution more profound than any previous Industrial Revolution,” said Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, in a statement.
“India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age. We will be the creators, the builders and the exporters of intelligence and we are proud to be able to participate in that future,” he added.
The announcement coincides with India’s AI Impact Summit, a five-day event that began on Monday and is being billed as the first major international AI meeting hosted in the Global South. Global leaders and technology executives including Sam Altman and Sundar Pichai are expected to take part.
Markets responded positively to the news, with shares in Adani Enterprises, the group’s flagship company, rising 2.3%, making it one of the top gainers on the Nifty 50. Shares in Adani Green Energy were last seen up 1.8%.

Adani said its AI push will build on AdaniConnex’s existing 2 gigawatt national data centre footprint, with plans to expand towards a 5 GW target – a deployment the company says will underpin the creation of the world’s largest integrated data centre platform. AdaniConnex is a joint venture between Adani Group and global data centre provider EdgeConneX.
“At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India’s technological sovereignty,” Gautam Adani said in a separate statement.
In October, Google said it would invest $15 billion over five years to set up an AI data centre in Andhra Pradesh, marking its biggest investment in India to date.
