Bedrock is used to help Amazon Web Service (AWS) customers with a suite of generative AI tools to build chatbots, generate text, and create images from prompts.
Amazon Bedrock users have the choice between different machine learning models called foundation models (FMs) to complete specific tasks. FMs available through Bedrock are AI21’s Jurassic-2, Anthropic’s Claude, Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion, and Amazon’s in-house AI, Amazon Titan. Amazon has not revealed the terms of agreements for the licensing and hosting of these startups.
The project pins Amazon up in the generative AI market which other tech giants have made their play in as well such as Google, Microsoft, and Meta. According to a report, the Generative AI market could be worth over £87 billion in the next 7 years, expecting to experience a yearly compound annual growth rate of 35.6%.
The announcement of Bedrock was foreshadowed after the company built partnerships with AI startups and increased investments into AI tech in the past few months. Additionally, Stability AI opted to use AWS as its cloud provider last month, and recently, AWS launched a generative AI accelerator for startups.

Bedrock’s partnership with Jurassic-2 will offer users text generation in different languages such as Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Dutch. The use of Claude will allow users to complete text processing tasks, and Stability AI will allow users to create images from text prompts. Amazon’s in house AI, Titan, is much like OpenAI’s GPT-4 and will be able to write blog posts, and emails. Amazon confirmed that no user data was used in the training of these underlying models.
“With Bedrock’s serverless experience, you can get started quickly, privately customize FMs with your own data, and easily integrate and deploy them into your applications using the AWS tools and capabilities you are familiar with without having to manage any infrastructure,” said Amazon in a release.
