The tech consultancy has parterned with social enterprise Scottish Tech Army in a bid to bolser the Tech for Good Alliance.

Tech consultancy AND Digital has announced its commitment to the newly-launched Tech for Good Alliance, in partnership with the Scottish Tech Army, the social enterprise offering digital solutions to third sector organisations.

Set up at the height of the coronavirus pandemic in Spring 2020, the Scottish Tech Army has recruited 2,000 volunteers from all over Scotland, helping the third sector solve digital problems for the direct benefit of Scottish communities.

AND Digital is the first Scottish tech consultancy to partner with the Scottish Tech Army and will offer its time and talents on a voluntary basis to deliver scalable and impactful digital solutions on charity projects.

Fiona Burton, Club Executive for AND Digital’s Club Grace in Edinburgh, said: “AND Digital is proudly on a mission to close the digital skills gap in Scotland, the UK and internationally.

“We do this by helping businesses to build digital products and work on-site alongside our clients to upskill their teams’ digital capabilities. We provide similar support and services, involving digital development work and training to a number of charities and community groups across Scotland.

“That’s why our partnership with the Scottish Tech Army felt very aligned – it’s tech for good.

“Our team can’t wait to get started on some interesting charity projects, supporting and promoting Scotland’s tech ecosystem.”

Alistair Forbes, founder of Scottish Tech Army and tech entrepreneur, said: “The Tech for Good Alliance is the next phase of evolution for the Scottish Tech Army.

“It builds on our work with individual volunteers to provide a structured framework where we will engage with companies in the tech sector; harnessing the sector’s substantial resources of talent, technology and finance to deliver social benefit at greater scale than ever before.

“We are delighted that AND Digital is taking this pioneering step as the first tech consultancy in Scotland’s tech community to commit to the Tech for Good Alliance and we look forward to other companies in the tech sector across the UK joining this developing ecosystem.

“There are inspiring examples of tech companies that have made substantial investments in tech for good but we believe that there is far greater potential that can be realised.

“Many companies support charities and non-profit organisations but often this is done in ways that do not utilise the highly specialised skills of their staff that, through the right partnerships, could achieve far-reaching and scalable impact in areas about which they and their staff are passionate.

“Our aim is to facilitate such relationships as part of a powerful ecosystem, working with our extensive network of charity organisations and funders, to create a step change in the level of impact, scalability and visibility of tech for good in the UK.

“We are excited to work with the AND Digital team as part of this exciting new initiative.”
