Cybersecurity solutions provider Check Point Software has announced the release of new tech to boost the protection of business cloud infrastructure.

The CloudGuard application expands Check Point’s Cloud Native Security Platform – automating cloud workload protection and providing security teams with tools to deal with cybersecurity threats in a single interface.

Cybersecurity concerns surrounding the increase in cloud adoption and staff having to work from home during the pandemic are now becoming more prevalent. Additionally, with the increased use of cloud technologies, cybersecurity must now be implemented into firm’s cloud infrastructure.

This causes major changes within organisations and means security teams find themselves with multiple platforms to manage. These platforms make it difficult for security teams to protect rapidly growing cloud workload deployments.

Check Point noted that, according to a recent survey, 68% of enterprises regard the misconfiguration of cloud assets as one of the biggest contributors to cloud security threats.

Doug Cahill, Vice-President, Analyst Services and Senior Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group, commented: “By unifying essential cloud security capabilities, Check Point’s CloudGuard platform is meeting a central requirement revealed from ESG’s annual cloud-native security research study, a strong preference for a consolidated set of controls based on an integrated platform.

“The fully automated approach of the CloudGuard platform reflects another central finding from our research, automating the introduction of controls and processes via integration with the continuous integration and continuous (CI/CD) tools employed by DevOps.”

Check Point’s tech comes after new research indicates that around 71% of CISOs believe a large number of flaws in cloud software are going unnoticed due to the switch in security practices.

CISOs have raised concerns that cloud software flaws are not being caught due to the ‘breaking’ of such practices.
