Scottish telecoms provider Commsworld has acquired ECS (Edinburgh Computer Services) and rebranded it to Essential Cloud Solutions.

The acquisition is a significant step forward for both businesses and allows Commsworld to offer a cloud and connectivity suite of solutions including cyber security, Wi-Fi and IT, ‘taking Commsworld to the desktop’.

The acquisition enables Commsworld to offer a unique service within Scotland and complements the company’s superfast network with full Microsoft solutions and accreditation.

The move takes Commsworld to more than 100 members of staff and will deliver revenues of over of £20 million in 2018.

Founded in 1991, ECS currently employs 19 people. The company has many clients, including well-known household names, particularly in the recruitment and hospitality sectors, and provides its services throughout Scotland.

The newly rebranded company will now focus on expansion within its existing client base as well as new business opportunities.

The acquisition follows Commsworld’s new £30 million deal to provide infrastructure to the city of Glasgow and the appointment of two new directors to its board.
