£500K Boost To Digital Skills Fund in Glasgow and Beyond

Five charities across the west of Scotland have received a share of £493,330 through the latest round of the Building Digital Skills Fund, a partnership between the HFD Charitable Foundation and Virgin Money Foundation.

The fund helps community groups and charities tackle digital inequality by building skills and confidence, improving access to affordable data and broadband, and providing essential equipment such as mobile Wi-Fi devices.

Now in its third round, the programme is expanding beyond Glasgow for the first time, reaching charities in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, and Paisley, alongside projects within the city itself.

Glasgow Tech Firm Go Swag Raises $5M For US Expansion

Glasgow-based corporate gifting platform Go Swag has raised $5 million in a funding round to support its US expansion, grow its team, and further develop its proprietary AI technology.

The round was led by Mercia Ventures, with participation from Techstart Ventures and strategic angel investors. It brings Go Swag’s total funding to $6.2m to date.

Founded by Conor McKenna and Ben, Go Swag provides a tech-powered platform designed to help companies deliver premium, on-brand corporate gifts worldwide while handling operational complexity including product curation, warehousing, customs, logistics, and fulfilment.

Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland Reinvests +£3M As a Social Enterprise

Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland has revealed it delivered more than £3 million of cyber resilience support and community benefit across Scotland during its first full year operating as a social enterprise.

Since transitioning to a social enterprise model in January 2025, the Centre reinvests profits generated through its professional cyber security services – including vulnerability testing, Cyber MOTs and executive education programmes – directly back into initiatives that strengthen Scotland’s cyber resilience and support those organisations most vulnerable to cyber-crime and fraud.

Over the last year, the Centre has provided extensive support to charities, community groups, social housing organisations, SMEs and individuals affected by cyber and fraud incidents, while also investing in the next generation of cyber talent and widening access to careers in the sector.

Edinburgh AI Ecommerce Firm Raises Over £1M In New Investment

Edinburgh-based startup stampfree.ai has successfully raised £1,029,968 in new investment, strengthening the company’s mission to modernise ecommerce logistics through social media customer experiences and AI label-free parcel technology.

The round includes continued backing from long-term investor R42 Group, who have supported stampfree.ai in every fundraising round to date, alongside strong participation from other existing and new investors including the crowdfunding communities on Crowdcube and Republic.

The raise follows a transformative 12 months for stampfree.ai, marked by major commercial and technology milestones across ecommerce returns, carrier integrations, and intellectual property development.

Edinburgh Founder Raises $3M For Cyber Firm Infrawatch

Infrawatch, founded by Edinburgh local Lloyd Davies, announced it has raised a $3 million pre-seed round to build the Internet Infrastructure Intelligence Layer, a new category of cybersecurity platform. 

The round was co-led by Outward VC and Triple Point Ventures, with participation from Portfolio Ventures and leading fintech and cyber angel investors.

Founded by Lloyd Davies and built by a team of CrowdStrike, Recorded Future, and Intel 471 alumni, Infrawatch gives security, fraud, and investigations teams real-time visibility into the infrastructure powering cyberattacks, fraud & scams, phishing, and online abuse.

Glasgow Biotech EnteroBiotix Raises £19m for IBS Drug Trial

Glasgow-headquartered life sciences scaleup EnteroBiotix has completed a £19 million investment, one of the largest investments into a Scottish biotech company in recent years, to support one of the world’s most extensive clinical trials of microbiome drugs used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

IBS affects up to 1 in 10 of the global population, with up to twice as many women diagnosed compared to men, with EnteroBiotix’s EBX-102-02 drug having the potential to transform the lives of tens of millions of patients worldwide.

The Phase 2b trial involving around 300 patients has commenced, with the EBX-102-02 drug manufactured by EnteroBiotix in Scotland. Topline efficacy data from the clinical trial is expected during the second half of 2027.

Sword Group Acquires Edinburgh AWS Specialist CirrusHQ

Sword Group has acquired Edinburgh-headquartered AWS specialist CirrusHQ as part of its international expansion strategy, strengthening its multi-cloud, hybrid cloud, AI and public sector capabilities in the UK.

CirrusHQ is an Amazon Web Services Premier Consulting and Solution Provider partner, delivering cloud infrastructure, transformation strategies and migration services for enterprise-scale IT estates. The company supports customers across the UK, with a focus on helping organisations balance security, performance and cost on AWS.

The acquisition is expected to add complementary “multi-hybrid cloud computing” skills to Sword’s UK operations, with CirrusHQ set to contribute to the group’s multi-cloud and hybrid capabilities across all sectors. Sword said the deal will have a particular focus on education and public sector organisations.

OpenAI Acquires Scottish AI Firm Tomoro in $4bn Deployment Drive

OpenAI has acquired Edinburgh-based Tomoro AI to scale its newly announced deployment firm with an initial investment of $4 billion.

The AI firm is launching OpenAI Deployment Company, a new firm designed to help organisations build and deploy AI systems.

The new firm has been created to help extend OpenAI’s ability to embed specialist AI engineerings into organisations working on complex AI deployments in demanding environments.

Waracle Acquires Inov8 to Accelerate Data and AI Growth Strategy

Waracle, a UK digital product consultancy, has agreed to acquire Inov8, an Edinburgh-based cloud and data services consultancy – the deal seeks to bolster Waracle’s growth strategy to increase the percentage of revenue from its data and AI in 2026.

The acquisition pairs the 300-strong team at Waracle, with its expertise in digital product development across financial services, energy, health and public sector, with Inov8 Consulting’s team of 28, which specialises in cloud services, data services and artificial intelligence.

Version 1 Acquires Edinburgh’s CreateFuture

Version 1, one of the leading global AI and digital transformation consultancies, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CreateFuture for an undisclosed amount.

CreateFuture is a technology services firm of 550 professionals working with clients in highly regulated industries including iGaming, Financial Services and Utilities.

The acquisition creates a combined organisation of 4,250 employees with annual revenues of more than €500 million, complementing Version 1’s private sector footprint and enhancing its AI-first capabilities.
