Over the last few months DIGIT has been growing. You may have noticed. We’ve been publishing more news, featuring more editorial and reaching more people than ever before.

In under six months we’ve grown our audience from a monthly average of 3,000 hits per month, to over 30,000 in September alone (and we’ve already beaten that in October). But we want MORE.

Scotland has an incredibly creative, technically sophisticated and commercially successful tech sector, but it doesn’t get the visibility it deserves. Everyone knows the tech unicorns, but who are the up-and-comers? Fintech is getting all of the attention, but which areas are being overlooked? We want to cover everything happening in Scotland’s digital community in its broadest possible sense.

But we need help to do it. So, we’re looking for a new staff writer.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to join Scotland’s fastest-growing business technology media company. The role would suit an ambitious journalist with a passion for emerging technology and the desire to join a young, motivated team with massive potential.

Key Duties

• Research and write regular news pieces, editorial and feature articles for the website
• Monitor media coverage and industry research to stay on top of technology trends and new developments which impact business and society
• Engage with relevant stakeholders to help expand the network and connect with the community
• Assist with editorial curation of contributor content from external sources
• Promote content through social media channels and audience engagement

Experience with web design, development and SEO would be an advantage. If you’ve done any audio/video editing, that would be useful too. If you have examples of your writing, do please share.

It’s a paid, full-time job, based at DIGIT’s glamorous Leith HQ in Edinburgh.

Alongside the editorial team, DIGIT runs a portfolio of events focusing upon many of the critical issues facing the digital technology sector. Over the next 12 months we have conferences and workshops covering everything from GDPR and big data, to digital transformation, cyber security and energy.
