Scotland Women in Technology Awards Winners Announced

This week, Scotland Women in Technology hosted its 2nd annual awards show to highlight, celebrate and champion women and gender diversity within Scotland’s tech scene. This year saw a record number of nominations with 150 individuals put forward by their peers. Among the winners was Polly Purvis OBE, chief executive of ScotlandIS and chair of CodeClan. She received the lifetime achievement award in recognition for her outstanding contribution to Scotland’s tech sector.

Facebook said on Wednesday that their moderators, over the past three months, had removed 8.7 million user images of child nudity with the help of previously undisclosed software that automatically flags such images. Cathay Pacific Data Hack Hit 9.4 Million Passengers

Airline Cathy Pacific has admitted that the personal data of up to 9.4 million passengers was accessed during a security breach. Passport numbers, email addresses and expired credit card details were among the leaked data. Chief executive Rupert Hogg apologised and said there was “no evidence” the information had been misused.
