The finalists for the 2018 Digital Technology Awards have been announced.
The awards celebrate talent, innovation and success in Scotland’s world-class digital technology industries. These industries contribute £6 billion in GVA to the economy and some 65,000 people are employed in the sector. According to KPMG’s Tech Monitor, the number of technology sector enterprises in Scotland grew 43.4% between 2010 and 2015, second only to London (54.6%).
Showcasing Scottish Success
Now in their eighth year, the Digital Tech Awards have grown. In 2018, the finalists are competing for 12 trophies available this year including the newly introduced Leadership Award. This is designed to highlight people within an organisation with the skills to inspire team members and the determination to grow and shape a business.
Past finalists and award winners include globally recognised names such as Skyscanner, FreeAgent, Aggreko and FanDuel, as well as up-and-coming next-generation businesses including Nucleus Financial, HotDocs and StormID.
The awards are being judged by a panel of seven experienced business leaders: Martin Mutch, Chairman of QikServe (chair), Jude McCorry (The DataLab), Maggie Morrison (CGI Scotland), Alan Bonner (Pinnacle Technology Group), Kenny Fraser (Triscribe), Paul Neeson (Scottish Equity Partners) and Richard Marshall (Kaazing Corporation).
Outstanding Capabilities
Polly Purvis CEO of ScotlandIS said: “We are a small country with outstanding capabilities reflected in the diversity, scale and innovation of the companies on the shortlist. We’ve received entries from so many exciting companies who are growing, and developing new products and services in response to the opportunities created by the pace of change in the digital world, creating tough choices for the judges.
