Scottish semiconductor and battery intelligence firm Dukosi has announced a partnership with Kia Europe to deliver the carmaker’s first public trial of a cell-level battery passport.
The trial uses a Kia EV3 fitted with Dukosi’s battery cell monitoring system, which transmits live data from each individual cell to a digital battery passport. The passport allows drivers, mechanics, and regulators to view real-time information on the battery’s State of Health (SoH), automatically updating after maintenance or repairs to ensure full traceability.
By monitoring at a cell level, Kia’s system seeks to enable earlier fault detection, cheaper targeted repairs, and greater trust in the used EV market. The research, coordinated by Delft University of Technology with support from Hyundai Motor Group and partners including TNO, tests how digital battery passports can securely share data between multiple stakeholders.
