The undisclosed amount of funding was led by TriCapital Syndicate LLP, with participation from Scottish Enterprise and Mint Ventures. The money will go towards developing and scaling Heero Technologies energy efficiency app and website, which the company says will unlock the next phase of their growth.
Heero was launched in 2022 with the goal of developing an app that guides homeowners through retrofitting their home to reduce energy usage. “Hitting the government’s net zero targets requires a major improvement in the energy performance of the UK’s housing stock and our technology has a leading role to play,” said Nicola Kennedy, CEO of Heero Technologies.
Heero recently announced its first customer, a nationally recognized building society which it says will add 350,000 users to the app.
On the use of the app, Moray Martin, Managing Partner at lead investor The TRICAPITAL Syndicate LLP, said: “There is a lot of noise currently around impact investing and the delivery of net zero. This intuitive technology brings focus to the ‘how to’ aspect by allowing us all, as individuals, to demonstrate, identify, measure and then implement our personal contribution.”
The funding comes on the backdrop of the UK government’s plan to decarbonize all arms of the economy by 2050, which would involve optimizing energy usage. On top of the national targets, individuals in the UK have also been cutting back their energy uses for financial reasons.
Energy prices rose by over 66% in the last 12 months according to the Office for National Statistics. This is causing over half of adults in the UK to use less fuel in their homes. While this can be achieved by retrofitting your home for optimal energy use, how to do it has remained cloudy for many in the UK.

Heero says its app offers insights on how to address challenges such as invasive retrofit measures, confusion over financing and government grants for energy efficiency, the lack of flexibility and choice over technology, and which installer and manufacturer to use.
“The combined investment from these three exciting new partners will support our determination to accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency technology and realise our vision of equipping homeowners with the knowledge and tools to make net zero homes a reality,” said Kennedy
