Informatics Ventures has selected a cohort of 50 high-growth tech startups for its flagship event, EIE20.

Held on 23rd April, the annual event is a unique gathering of Scottish tech talent, which sees participants pitch to UK and international investors.

To date, EIE has supported more than 500 tech startups and scale-ups, with companies raising in excess of £700 million from seed through to Series A and later-stage funding.

The 2020 cohort contains a host of innovative companies that are tackling real-world problems across a range of sectors, including energy, cybersecurity, fintech, digital health and cleantech. It also contains the largest percentage of internationally-founded ventures that are locating to Scotland.

Companies set to feature this year include MoneyMatiX, Machines with Vision, Soar, Mocean Energy and Neurolabs. A full list of the 2020 company cohort can be found here.

Danny Helson, programme manager at Informatics Ventures, commented: “We’ve got companies from four different continents this year, which is a reflection of the global reach of EIE and speaks volumes as to how far Scotland has come as a technology hub, attracting startup founders and investors from across the globe.

“Edinburgh, in particular, is fast becoming one of Europe’s main data capitals.”

Bob Keiller, former chair of Entrepreneurial Exchange and Scottish Enterprise, added: “EIE is transformational. It provides a unique opportunity for so many ambitious Scottish companies to meet with hundreds of potential investors and seek the investment that can transform their futures.”

EIE boasts a distinguished alumni roster, with companies such as Current Health, Float, pureLiFi, Good-Loop and Cyan Forensics having all taken part in the programme.

Current Health and Float recently secured significant funding packages and are pursuing international expansion.

One former alumnus companies appearing again at this year’s EIE is travel tech startup Criton. The Edinburgh-based firm is delivering digital technologies that optimise customer experience and maximise revenue for the hotel and serviced apartment industry.

Criton founder and CEO, Julie Grieve, said: “Having gone through EIE17 before going on to raise £5 million later that year, there’s no doubt in my mind that the programme helped us to secure funding. I’m back for EIE20 to kick off our next fundraise planned for later this year.
