Firefly expansion
After a record year, Edinburgh-based Firefly is eyeing international expansion as part of its 12-month plan

The leadership and change consultancy increased its revenues by 58% in the 2022/23 fiscal year after significant hires and gaining new clientele.

In the last year, the company recruited a US-based VP of operations to help scale their international growth, as well as a new director of marketing

Firefly has also collaborated with organisations like the UK Crown Prosecution Service, Ministry of Defence, Simon Community Northern Ireland, IMPACT Scotland and Robert Gordon University.

The company is an organisational culture change and leadership development specialist. Founded in 2011, it helps organisations with board development, executive coaching, leadership development, and organisational culture strategy.

Following the record year, Firefly says it will introduce new online learning modules and group-coaching programmes in the next 12 months. It is also looking to bolster international growth in the long term, eyeing key markets like the US.

“Our success can largely be put down to two factors. Post-pandemic, we have seen organisations moving out of survival mode and into redesigning and reconfiguring their structures to be more aligned with people needs, requiring strong leadership throughout the organisation,” said Kirsty Maynor, CEO.

The redesign of the modern work culture had been expedited by the pandemic, which saw nearly half (49.2%) of adults work from home according to the Office for National Statistics.

Now, as workers return to the office in droves, organisations need to find new ways of maintaining communication and leadership structure built during that time.

“Due to the fact that our services are tailored to meet the needs of the organisation, we have been well positioned to support senior leaders and boards with their evolving needs, including creating cohesion and courage in their organisation,” Maynor continued.

“Last but not least, one of Firefly’s key strengths lies in helping business leaders overcome personal struggles to unlock their potential. That journey has mirrored my own over the past year. Having overcome several personal and professional challenges, I now feel much more prepared to move out of my comfort zone and target ambitious growth. That’s an exciting place to be, for both me and the business.”
