The Scottish smart mobile marketing agency has unveiled plans to open a new office in India.

Mobile marketing agency Digitonic has revealed it intends to expand internationally into Asia, following a successful financial year with a revenue growth of 44%.

Having recently secured investment, which now values the business at £10 million, the company feels ready to tap into the India’s rapidly growing market.

Analysts predict the country will becomes the world’s third largest consumer market by 2030 with consumer spending leaping from $1.5 trillion in 2019 to almost $6 trillion.

To realise this goal, the company has expanded its staff to include digital marketers and sports journalists in India, who will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Lucknow in the north of the country. It currently employs 20 people at its headquarters in central Glasgow.

The decision to locate in the region was influenced by its close proximity to all Indian Premier League cricket teams. Over the coming months, Digitonic says it will take on additional staff members in sales and content roles.

Grant Fraser, CEO of Digitonic, commented: “As consumer spending rapidly increases, India will become an increasingly important and attractive market for businesses across the globe.

“As such, it is critical that we are able to help our clients acquire and retain customers in this growing market to ensure they are able to fully capitalise on the opportunities it has to offer.

“These opportunities are particularly strong when it comes to mobile devices as it is anticipated that there will be over 800 million smartphone users in India by 2022.

“By entering the market now, we will be well positioned to provide the support and expertise that businesses will require to build a footprint with Indian consumers. As we strive for continued growth, this capability, and presence, will be crucial in further driving us forward.”

The company already has a robust ‘opt-in’ Indian advertising network of just under two million Indian cricket fans. It has expressed confidence that its new content platforms will help brands easily reach the Indian consumer market.

Fraser added: “Researching the Indian market in the run up to our own entry, what became clear was that, while it aligned well with the products and services that we offer, it would also require a slightly different approach.

“We recognised that it would be hugely beneficial to develop assets that tapped into the vast potential of the Indian Premier League Cricket which is valued at over $6 billion. We have acted swiftly to acquire and create these and as a result feel confident that, alongside our established solutions, we are ideally placed to support companies that view India as a growth area for their business.”
