“We are now in full-scale-up mode, investing across geographies, supply chains, technology, and talent,” said Addy Mohammed, Simple Online CEO.

Glasgow-based digital health platform Simple Online Healthcare has announced two new senior leadership appointments aimed at enhancing patient care as the firm looks to expand on its international growth.

Bev Dumbleton will join the firm in the newly created role of chief patient experience officer and executive leader, bringing a wealth of experience from a career spanning senior positions at Sykes Holiday Cottages, Gold Medal Travel, and Airmiles.

Meanwhile, Simple Online’s clinical director Abdal Alvi, who began his career in ‘bricks and mortar’ pharmacies, has been promoted to chief clinical officer after five years with the company.

The appointments come against a backdrop of volatility in global healthcare markets, including recent wholesale price increases for weight-care medication Mounjaro, with Simple Online CEO Addy Mohammed stressing the importance of continuing to invest in patient-centric measures and talent, while adding more clinical care experience at board level.

“These senior appointments demonstrate our absolute commitment to clinical rigour and patient care, and our desire to always be one of the most reputable and trustworthy online healthcare providers against a backdrop of challenging market dynamics,” said Mohammed.

“The combination of Bev’s deep experience in customer-centricity and Abdal’s focus on clinical strategy will deliver a step change in online patient experience, maintaining the highest standards of safety and effectiveness as we continue to scale at speed.”

Co-founded by Mohammed and Karim Nassar in 2015, Simple Online Healthcare has been built on the pair’s previous experience of owning and operating community pharmacies across Scotland, with the firm growing rapidly over the last ten years.

Last year, Simple Online was named as one of the fastest-growing businesses in the EMEA region by Deloitte’s Fast 500 ranking, and in June, the company announced it was set to launch in Denmark, its third international market, while also more than tripling revenue to £66 million in the last financial year.

Marking the company’s 10th anniversary in April, Mohammed said: “We are now in full-scale-up mode, investing across geographies, supply chains, technology, and talent.

“Digital healthcare continues to evolve rapidly, but our focus remains the same, namely to enhance the patient journey and deliver best-in-class care.”
