XpoNorth Digital is aiming to demystify remote live streaming for Highlands organisations through a series of workshops.

As the world grows more digitally global, remote participation has been key in uniting businesses with their audience.

This can be particularly difficult for organisatons that are struggling to catch up digitally, especially in remote and rural locations with poor digital infrastructure.

As part of the Northern Innovation Hub, XpoNorth Digital is the Highlands and Islands Enterprise’s mechanism for specialist digital support for their creative economy.

‘‘Live streaming offers a fantastic opportunity for networks across the Highlands and Islands to reach new and existing audiences regionally, nationally and internationally,” Alex Smith, XpoNorth Digital Programme Manager, explained.

Addressing the what, why and how of planning, devising and executing live streaming, XpoNorth Digital’s series will include four workshops for businesses in the Highlands starting in February.

With a focus on introducing participants to the technical and creative element of live streaming, the workshops will especially appeal to those looking to broaden their business horizons digitally.

Led by Dougal Perman and Anny Deery from live streaming specialists Inner Ear, the interactive course will engage participants through group discussions, demos, and practical exercises.

No specialist knowledge is required for participation, other than having a smartphone, laptop or tablet with a webcam, and rudimentary knowledge of social media platforms.

Dougal Perman, Director at Inner Ear, said: “By participating in this course, we hope people will feel empowered and equipped to reach, and interact with, remote audiences by making their own live programmes using kit they already have and readily available apps and platforms.”

Classes will take place on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd of February and 2nd of March.
