Seven new Techscaler Hubs across Scotland will offer free mentorships to companies as part of a new government initiative.

Tech companies looking to grow their operations can now apply for free mentorship and professional advice from the Scottish Government’s new initiative.

The establishment of seven new Techscaler hubs delivers on a key priority in the Scottish Government’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET) to strengthen the country’s tech sector and encourage entrepreneurship.

Business Minister Ivan McKee said: “As set out in NSET, we are committed to establishing Scotland as a leading destination in Europe for tech companies. The Techscaler network will play an important role in reaching this goal.”

As part of a £42 million commitment, the hubs will provide businesses with high quality guidance and coaching to develop their performance with mentorship from partners such as Barclays Eagle Labs and Reforge.

Applications are now open for hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness. A south of Scotland hub in Dumfries will follow at a later date.

This also follows the Scottish Government’s technology ecosystem review which found both strengths and weaknesses in the Scottish tech sector.

Gillian Docherty, Chair of CodeBase, the Edinburgh-based company delivering the Techscaler programme, said: “With the right infrastructure and support systems in place founders can replicate successful growth methods to build startups, Techscaler provides that framework.

“I’m excited to see this network bring together people and partners across the Scottish tech ecosystem, developing the skills and attracting the investment required to start and scale a tech business,” she added.
