Lloyds Banking Group is set to close 136 more high street branches, including 14 Bank of Scotland branches, between May 2025 and March 2026.
The move, which will also affect 61 Lloyds Banks and 61 Halifax locations, is part of its accelerated plan to digitise its offering and cut costs.
The announcement for the planned closures comes just weeks after Lloyds transformed in branch business model, enabling customers of Lloyds, the Bank of Scotland, and Halifax to use any store across its brands for any in-person banking needs.
All workers in affected branches will be offered jobs in other parts of the company, the Bank assured.
After the closures, the Lloyds brand will be down to 386 branches, with only 90 Bank of Scotland branches left, and 281 Halifax branches.
Lloyds claimed that they were following customer trends as more turn to digital banking options, shunning traditional, in-person banking.

Over the past five years, transactions at the branches fell 48% on average, as more customers shifted to using mobile apps.
“Over 20 million customers are using our apps for on-demand access to their money and customers have more choice and flexibility than ever for their day-to-day banking,” a spokesperson for the company said.
“Alongside our apps, customers can also use telephone banking, visit a community banker or use any Halifax, Lloyds or Bank of Scotland branch, giving access to many more branches.
“Customers can also do their everyday banking at over 11,000 branches of the Post Office or in a Banking Hub.”
