LOTHIAN BUSES

Now entering its fifth day, the Lothian Bus app connection problem means some users continue to be plagued by errors.

Lothian Buses today took to Twitter to say its app provider CoreThree had told them that, as of this morning, “the app is working with connection errors for a small number of users,” but would continue to work to solve the issue.

Users have taken to social media to disagree, saying that the app is continuing to fail. Commuters say the app frequently crashes and will not allow them to purchase a ticket. Other users have said it has wiped credit from their account, taken double payments and that their purchased tickets are failing to show up on the account.

A Lothian spokesman said: “The problems are being experienced by a small group of m-ticket users (less than two percent). We can only apologise for any inconvenience caused by our suppliers issue.”

Commuters Continue To Be Frustrated

Some users remain unconvinced and have taken to Twitter to highlight the on-going problem, with one user tweeting in response to the two percent comment: “Ah, they must have all just been on my bus this morning.”

While another said: “Unless it is working for everybody then it is NOT working. Can you provide some stats on the amount of people affected? If you can’t then please refrain from stating facts about the number impacted.”

Commuters have been left frustrated since the glitches began to appear on Monday during peak hours. App users have been advised to carry cash in the event the app fails and to buy their tickets outside of peak hours.

They were also told to connect to the app using mobile data and if unable to connect, they should wait 60 seconds before trying again. The situation has led to renewed calls for Lothian to install contactless payment on its buses as cash is the only alternative with no change given.
