Just east of Glasgow, in North Lanarkshire, Novosound is spearheading technological innovation for wireless ultrasounds. The new partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston Texas, marks a significant expansion for Novosound into North America.
Dr Todd Rosengart, cardiovascular surgeon, vice president and DeBakey Bard chair of surgery at Baylor College of Medicine said he is impressed with Novosound’s technology so far.
“We believe (it) will save lives and could indeed become the next vital sign monitor,” he said.
According to Crunchbase, since the company was founded in 2018, it has raised almost £10 million in funding across multiple investors like Par Equity, EOS Technology Investment Syndicate, Scottish Enterprise, the European Regional Development Fund, Foresight Group, and more.
The impetus of its latest funding has been to bolster a North American presence. Just last year, Novosound partnered with PAVmed, a Nasdaq-listed medical technology company to advance its intravascular imaging tech, and further its North American expansion.
“We’re making remarkable progress in the US,” said Novosound CEO and co-founder Dave Hughes.

The company develops highly customisable and scalable ultrasound solutions for a variety of sectors. According to Hughes, the company has made progress in wearable technology, as well as renewables, energy and industrial monitoring.
“We’re seeing that our R&D partnerships are frequently translating to commercial agreements, and we expect to announce a number of these in 2024, particularly in the States,” he said about the company’s latest collaboration.
“On the financials, this equates to us doubling revenue for the fourth year in a row, while adding expertise to the team,” continued Hughes.
All of this comes on the heels of Novosound bolstering its leadership group by appointing former Intel executive David Jolliffe as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in May of this year.
