OpenAI has launched a new chatbot designed for financial services with specialised AI advise for investment researchers and finance teams.
ChatGPT for Financial Services is OpenAI’s latest attempt to position itself against Anthropic and steal some of its thunder in the business realm.
The tool is mainly aimed at large financial instituitons, and will integrate data from Daloopa, PitchBook, and LSEG News. The new model will also use GPT-6 Astra as its foundational base, with plans to use newer models as they are released.
The new AI models’ datasets will include financial statements, earning transcripts, and company standards. Bankers will be able to use the service’s granular citations to trace figures and claims back to their source.
Firms will be able to centrally manage access and data connections, supported by ChatGPT’s governance controls.
“We’re effectively teaching ChatGPT to research like an analyst and back up its conclusions like an analyst,” Nick Turley, VP of product at OpenAI, said.
OpenAI says that the main purpose of the tool is to help finance teams effectively develop research finance models and materials for their clients in the firm’s bespoke style.
“The promise of frontier research becomes real when it helps our people do the work that matters for our clients. We’re working alongside OpenAI to bring that intelligence into how we research companies, develop analysis, and prepare advice,” Morgan Stanely said in a statement.
The new tool, designed in partnership with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, sees OpenAI more deliberately targeting a share of large organisations currently dominated by Claude use.
