Salesforce has announced plans to acquire Convergence, a London-based AI company, in a move that will seek to enhance cloud-based software firm Salesforce’s research and development capabilities and accelerate its AI roadmap.
Founded only a year ago, Convergence raised $12 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Balderton Capital, with participation from Salesforce Ventures and Shopify Ventures.
Convergence’s team is expected to play a central role in advancing Salesforce’s AI strategy, particularly in areas such as deep research, task automation, and industry-specific solutions. This will support the development of more adaptive AI agents that help customers boost productivity and reduce manual work.
“We’re looking toward a future where Agentforce can empower our customers with AI agents that don’t just follow instructions, but truly perceive, reason, and adapt to the complexities of modern digital workflows,” said Adam Evans, EVP & GM, Salesforce AI Platform, Salesforce
“Imagine AI assistants that can intuitively navigate ever-changing interfaces and intelligently manage intricate tasks with a new level of resilience and human-like ingenuity – that’s the kind of step-change we’re eager to explore,”
For Convergence, the acquisition represents a major opportunity to scale its mission of redefining automation.
“The future of business automation isn’t limited to single, scripted tasks – it lies in end-to-end, decision-driven workflows where multiple agents collaborate and hand off seamlessly,” said Marvin Purtorab, CEO and Co-founder, Convergence.
“Our mission at Convergence is to help organizations stop viewing automation as just another tool and instead adopt it as the very way work gets done — unlocking new levels of innovation and efficiency. Joining Salesforce is the ideal step to scale that vision.”
The deal also deepens Salesforce’s footprint in the UK’s AI ecosystem. “Welcoming Convergence’s exceptional team to Salesforce marks an exciting step forward in deepening our commitment to the UK’s dynamic AI ecosystem,” said Jayesh Govindarajan, EVP AI/ML Engineering, Salesforce.

“London is a global leader in AI innovation, and this acquisition will lay the foundation for a growing center of AI R&D here — one where Convergence will form the nucleus of a world-class AI lab that expands over time. With the city’s concentration of pioneering scientists and engineers, we are confident this investment will accelerate our AI strategy and bring the next wave of innovation to life.”
The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. No further details of the transaction have been disclosed.
