The new appointment comes after the scale-up announced a £4m investment in the growth of its Scottish team in May.

Tomoro, an AI scale-up that helps large enterprises unlock the value of AI through custom AI agents, has announced the hiring of Ami Islam as head of people based out of the Scottish firm’s Edinburgh Office.

Before joining Tomoro, Islam was the architect of the rapid growth of the data and AI consultancy, Mudano, which grew at a rate of 100% a year for five consecutive years before being acquired by Accenture in 2020.

“We are focused on building one of Europe’s next great AI companies,” Ed Broussard, managing director at Tomoro, said. “We have huge traction in the market so the focus is on hiring and growing the greatest AI team in the country. There is no one with better experience to make that happen than Ami.

“We are committed to building our team across our London, Manchester and Edinburgh bases. Having Ami join in Edinburgh grows our leadership team in Scotland and further demonstrates our commitment to the Scottish AI eco-system, on top of our commitment made earlier this year to invest £4m in AI jobs in Scotland.”

Ami Islam, who joins Tomoro as head of people, will lead on recruitment, training, and development, and will lead the expansion of the team.

“I am delighted to be joining Tomoro who are one of the most exciting AI firms globally right now,” he said.

“Their partnerships with OpenAI and Nvidia mean they are working on some of the most exciting AI projects in the world. I look forward to helping scale the team to become one of the most successful and well-known enterprise AI firms in the UK.”

Tomoro works with large enterprises across financial services, energy, media, telecommunications, and other industries to help embrace AI to drive new revenue and reduce their cost base through custom-built AI agents.

The company has recently announced a partnership with chip designer NVIDIA, as well as working in alliance with ChatGPT creator OpenAI.

Tomoro’s mission is to increase human work productivity to such a level that a three-day working week, with no loss in employee wages, becomes the default for society.
