Scots-American Startup Scrapp have won a prize package worth £60,000 for the most outstanding business concept delivered at the Edventure young business conference.
Competitors had to give a three-minute pitch to judges in a test of the budding entrepreneurs’ business acumen and ideas.
Three companies were chosen representing three sectors. The winners were Scrapp (Social and Environmental), Synbiote (Technology) and Fabrio (Business, Consumer and Services).
Scrapp’s Co-Founder and CBA, Evan Gwynne Davies, said that the company was “thrilled” to have been chosen by the judges.
The prize package included unlimited use of project management software free subscriptions to premium equity software and tens of thousands of pounds worth of legal contract assistance from Lexagle.
Scots-American startup Scrapp has a free-to-use app that seeks to reduce global waste. Through the app, you can scan waste items to find out what can be recycled in your area. For every item recycled, the Scrapp team also removes ocean plastic.
Vestd’s Founder and CEO, Ifty Nasir, stated that Scrapp stood out as a winning entry and that “their company ethos is in line with our own – to help people and to make the world a better place. Their app will help local authorities and organisations to roll out efficient recycling programmes around the world. It’s transformative tech for good and it benefits everybody who uses it.”
