Burness Paull has appointed Noel Jordan as its first chief operating officer, with the law firm claiming that the newly created role will prime the business for its next phase of growth.

As COO, Jordan will have overall responsibility for the firm’s business services and legal operations functions, working closely with its practice areas to help ensure a cohesive approach to providing client service.

Formerly chief technology officer at Ashurst and having held senior IT roles with GE Capital, including stints as chief information officer for GE UK’s financial services business and group IT director, Jordan brings technical expertise honed over a 20-year career to Burness Paull.

Having worked across professional services, as well as the financial and utilities sectors, Jordan has experience in leading large, multi-office teams operating on a global basis to deliver technological transformation projects.

Those skills will now be put to use in shepherding Burness Paull’s more than 700 employees, including 95 partners, into a new phase of growth across its offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. 

Burness Paull’s chair, Peter Lawson, said that Jordan’s blue-chip corporate background made him the perfect candidate to help develop the commercial law firm’s infrastructure and leverage technology as it steps up its plans.
