Waracle, a technology services company founded and based in Scotland, has announced the appointment of David Tuck as CEO, with plans to establish the business as a market leader in technology services throughout the UK.

Waracle, the Dundee-headquartered tech and digital developer, will welcome David Tuck, former group chief executive of digital transformation consultancy Kin + Carta, to the business in early September.

He succeeds chief executive Chris Martin, who has led the business since 2014. Martin, who worked to bring Tuck to Waracle, will remain with the firm and continue to be a significant shareholder.

Current CEO Chris Martin said: “David’s appointment demonstrates the ambition for Waracle to continue its growth to the next level.

“His experience in scale up and his track record in building teams who do great work, and enjoy themselves, makes him perfect for this role. He is pragmatic, hard-working, ambitious and likeable.”

Waracle specialises in mobile apps and digital products, with a client base that includes Lloyds Banking Group, Royal London, Roche and Imperial College London. The company is backed by investor BGF, the UK’s leading growth capital investor.

The company most recently announced the acquisition of Glasgow-based Screenmedia for an undisclosed sum, as well as a multi-million-pound deal with Scottish Power Energy Networks that aims to help the electricity network operator accelerate its digital technology programme.

Tuck has held senior positions within technology services for 25 years, including at Thoughtworks, Scott Logic, and The App Business.

At Kin + Carta, Tuck delivered end-to-end digital services for global clients, and was named as CEO of the Year in the digital transformation category by European CEO Magazine in 2024.

Speaking about his new role, David Tuck said: “I am hugely excited about the journey with Waracle, which is a company I have followed for a long time. There is a buoyant tech sector in Scotland and we know that demand for high-quality tech services will continue to grow.

“Waracle has grown to a business with over 200 employees and a strong client base across the UK and Europe. Now there is an opportunity to accelerate that growth and invest in new capabilities, particularly data and AI, and use that to bring greater value to clients.”
